Dolly Parton’s song “9-5” with a Double-Life twist by Rachel Marker
Songs keep coming to mind as we are nearing our launch day. 29 days till we leave the USA.
Tumble outta bed
and stumble to the kitchen
pour myself a cup of ambition
and yawn and stretch and try to come to life.
MANY, not ALL of you may know the rest of the words to that great Dolly Parton song from the movie 9-5, circa 1980.
Significance to that song.
Admittedly, I am living a double-life, a business person by day and a “Get everything I currently own sold, donated or given away” by evening. 5-9 (or later). Does anyone need anything?
By day (9-5 more like 8-5), I am working on providing the very best service I can provide to clients with full attention to detail and stellar follow-up all while whipping out colored index cards after a meeting to write down a thought that might have hit me as I walk to the car about what I still have to do with my 5-9 (or later) job at home.
The thoughts, the thoughts, the thoughts they keep rushing to me of all the things that still need to be done, it is a bit overwhelming at times. There are only limited books & manuals that give you a step by step overview of what to expect or the order in which to actually LAUNCH yourself into a new travel lifestyle. Acknowledgement needed, Betsy & Warren Talbot, who have indeed written several of those books I mentioned above have so generously guided us and have given us a “heads up” as to what to expect AND I am honestly admitting there is ALOT of stuff to think about. We are in the middle of it and the thoughts seem endless.
I have come to my personal conclusion that I have a lot of Things and not necessarily a lot of Treasures – does that help make all of the Things disappear any faster? To Be Determined.
Now back to the song…….
Jump in the shower
And the blood starts pumpin
Out on the streets
The traffic starts jumpin
